Twinkle Reyes Photography (Sikh Society of Manitoba, Pipeline Gurdwara) – Shum & Amit Married!

Over a year ago, when we first met with Shum and Amit to discuss their wedding, we were presented with plans to capture 4 days of excitement and celebration. Surrounded by friends and loved ones, Shum and Amit generously shared the wedding of their dreams, and we were thrilled to have been the chosen Photographers for their event!

In the days leading up to their wedding, Sean and I started by capturing the couple’s Maiyan, and Shum’s Chura. On Wedding day, the homes of the bride and groom were buzzing with activity in preparation for the ceremony held at the Sikh Society of Manitoba – Pipeline Gurdwara.

The couple’s portrait session took us to the the Exchange District, starting with the Millenium Centre. The day ended with the always touching Dohli and Dohli dinner ceremonies.

The couple’s Reception was held the following evening at CanadInns Polo Park. The room was beautifully decorated by Tricia Hartig of Best Wedding Decor, and guests were treated to a “same-day edit” of the the prior day’s events by A Moving Picture Studios. The reception was a dance-filled celebration where everyone got into the spirit of the evening (check out the last picture in this series…hehe…I left the room for a few minutes and when I got back, Amit had pulled Sean onto the dance floor for a little show-down with his mom, the beautiful Mrs. Sidhu. I love this picture :) ! ).

Below, I’ve included only some of my favourite images from our time with the Hothi and Sidhu families. Friends and family of this happy couple can access their complete webgallery by contacting them directly for their private password.

Twinkle Reyes Photography (Fort Garry Hotel) – Jason & Heidi – Married!

Filed under Just Married! Tags: , — • Written by twinkle @ 10:31 pm

I’m asked all the time what my favourite thing is about shooting weddings, and my answer has always been – that regardless of all the similarities between each celebration, there are always the special touches that make each and every wedding experience unique. Heidi and Jason’s wedding is no exception. Drawing inspiration from the colours of peacock feathers, Heidi and Jason designed the wedding of their dreams against the beautiful backdrop of Winnipeg’s historic Fort Garry Hotel, and we appreciated having been the chosen Photographers for their event.

Below are a few of my favourite images from our time together. Friends and family of this happy couple can access their complete webgallery by contacting them directly for the private password.

Twinkle Reyes Photography – (St. Laurent, Manitoba) – Joanne & Karl Engaged!

A couple of weeks ago, Sean and I were invited to the Kerbrat Farm in St. Laurent to shoot Joanne and Karl’s engagement session. One of the best parts of our job has been the opportunity it’s given us to visit some of the smaller towns in rural Manitoba. St. Laurent is beautiful during this time of year. It was a real pleasure spending time with this happy couple, and we’re looking forward to working with them again on their wedding day next April.

In the meantime, I’m posting some of my favourite shots from our time together. Friends and family of Joanne and Karl will require a password in order to view their complete webgallery, so please contact the couple directly for their private password.

Shum and Amit wanted an engagement session that was fun, full of romance, and on the beach at sun set. It was an amazing opportunity for us to capture some great images in one of Manitoba’s provincial parks on a gorgeous summer night!

We are looking forward to Shum and Amit’s wedding in a few short weeks!

I hope you enjoy some of my favourite images from our time with them -

Twinkle Reyes Photography (The Forks) – Hayden turns 2

Filed under Family Portrait Photography Tags: , — • Written by twinkle @ 5:02 pm

It’s such a privilege to watch a young family, and a young child grow year after year. We’ve been very fortunate to have families that return to us annually to have their photos taken – some of them from as early as 2005.

We met Toni and Hayden last year, when Hayden was just turning one. I remember him, then, just starting to walk, full of curiosity, personality, and endless smiles. Earlier this month, he and Toni came to see us again on his birthday. It’s hard to believe that a full year has gone by since we last saw him. Look at how big he’s grown!

Twinkle Reyes Photography (Pineridge Hollow) Leanne & Paul – Married!

It’s time again that we feature another Real Wedding Story, generously submitted by our clients and friends. This month, Leanne & Paul share the details of their beautiful engagement and wedding day with us.

It’s always such a pleasure to work with a gorgeous, fun-loving couple and of course their warm and lively bridal party attendants.

I’m also very happy to be able to post some shots from their engagement session, which you’ll find at the end of this post.

Thanks again to Leanne and Paul – great big hugs to the both of you!!!

How we met:
We met at a mutual friend’s house before going to a Social (the classic Manitoba love story).

The Engagement:
After two years of dating, Paul and I planned a weekend at my family cabin in the White Shell. My birthday had been two weeks earlier, and Paul said that he had an extra present for me waiting outside on the deck.

Pre-Wedding Events:
I made it very clear to my Maid of Honour, who is also one of my three sisters, that under no circumstances should there be a surprise bridal shower. My reasoning for this was simply: because I rarely put a lot of effort towards choosing outfits, or doing my hair and make-up, so if I’m showing up to a house full of friends and family I’m going to need a heads up. Well, she took my request and threw it right out the window. I was thoroughly surprised when I showed up at my Aunt’s house to pick up something for my mom and walked right into my surprise bridal shower. And because I spent the day mucking around the Interlake looking for decorative branches, my fear of not looking my best was realized.

The bachelorette party started off with pole dancing lessons at Studios in the Exchange. This is so much fun, and if ever you have the chance to take a class, do not hesitate!

Paul’s bachelor party was a weekend camping trip to Hecla. And because all the guys in attendance conveniently didn’t take a single picture and have not shared a single story, that’s all I know about that weekend.

The Wedding:
The ceremony and the reception were held at the always beautiful Pineridge Hollow in Birds Hill Park. The staff are friendly and helpful, it made planning the whole event a breeze. The food was amazing!

Unique Touches:
Our centerpieces were hand made scrapbook style, self-standing, cards that included pictures of me and Paul, along with our favourite poems, and lyrics.

Bridal Wisdom:
Relax and enjoy the day! Roll with the punches and don’t sweat the small stuff. It was said to me throughout my engagement, but it is honestly the best advise I could give.

Also, Paul and I had all our pictures taken before the ceremony, which is not the traditional route, but I am so glad that we did. It allowed us to relax and have a good time with our wedding party.

Photographers:
We will be forever grateful to Twinkle and Sean for all the amazing pictures they took. The moments that they captured, and the fun and creative ideas they brought to the day were more than we thought possible. They flawlessly orchestrated the day, making sure we got the shots we wanted and helped keep us on schedule. They did all this work and still managed to be so much fun! Thank you Twinkle & Sean for all the work you did to help make the day everything that we hoped it would be. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

DJ:
Platinum Productions

Transportation:
Luxury Plus Limo for our wedding party-they were on time and very friendly, and a bus from Vital Transit for the guests.

Hair & Make Up:
Sets on Fort

Bakery:
Cupcakes from Kelly Mackinson at Heavenly Sins bakery

Bridal shops:
Gown from Helene’s Bridal, and bridesmaid dresses from Cake Clothing. Hair comb from www.naugi.com

Favours:
Honey we bought from a local farmer.

Decorations:
Linens from Dream Day Decorators.

Flowers:
Monica Middlestead at Timeless Florals.

Formal wear:
Suit rentals from Uomo Casuale on Corydon.

Invitations:
www.rexcraft.com

Jewelry:
My engagement ring, and both or wedding bands were purchased from Ben Moss in Polo Park. The day of the wedding I wore my grandmother’s diamond ring, diamond stud earrings, and my mother in-law’s mother’s Aquamarine pendant.

Twinkle Reyes Photography – Lagopoulos Family – Portrait Session

Regular visitors of Osborne Village would be familiar with Desart. A fixture in the Village since 1968, this shop offers beautiful and unique gifts, jewellery, accessories, housewares, and apparel. It’s one of our favourite destination shops in Winnipeg!

Two years ago, we had the pleasure of working with owner Donna Lagopoulos and family. Sean and I were very excited to get a recent phone call from Donna for a family portrait session, capturing their reunion and celebrating their newest addition!

Below, we’ve put together a short video of our favourite images from this shoot. Thank you again to the Lagopoulos family for the warm welcome into your home, and into your lives.
